DSCN1862[1]

This was first class. Lots of red fruit, structure is there but it remains soft and polished as so many 2014. Virile. Aromatically still shy but no doubt this will be great in 2024. I wish all Clos Vougeot Producers would make such a refined and elegant wine like Hudelot Noellat. Wow is what I wrote down to describe the nose – floral, expressive, earthy, spicy. Powerful, but round tannins, very intense, spicy, grippy. Fresh and mineral. Persistent and vibrant. Superb.

“Discreet wisps of wood surround the earthy, plum, dark currant, spice and sauvage scents. The medium-bodied flavors are quite muscular though the supporting tannic spine is finer than usual on the lingering, firm and youthfully austere finish that exhibits a touch of dryness. This classically styled effort may very well round out but that is not guaranteed.”
